Celebrating 5 Years at SkeyDrone: Spotlight on Tom Snyers

This month, we’re celebrating an important milestone at SkeyDrone: our Senior Product Manager, Tom Snyers, marks his 5-year anniversary with the company.

Tom joined SkeyDrone after several years in the innovation team at skeyes, Belgium’s air navigation service provider. For him, the move felt like a natural next step: “At skeyes, I was exploring innovative ideas, but at SkeyDrone I had the opportunity to actually build them and bring them to market. It was the chance to help shape a new industry from the ground up.”

That sense of momentum was clear from day one. Tom recalls walking into his first meeting; the kick off with an external development team to build the UTM platform. “From that moment, everything became very real. We weren’t just talking about possibilities anymore, we were creating them.”

Over the past five years, Tom has helped building solutions that push the boundaries of drone integration. One highlight was his presentation at Airspace World 2025 in Lisbon, where he introduced SkeyDrone’s concept of adding dynamic airport threat zones to the Drone Radar solution. It was the first time the idea was shared publicly, and the positive reactions confirmed it met a clear need in the industry. “That was a relief,” Tom admits. “It showed us we were on the right track.”

But beyond the projects and milestones, what stands out most for Tom is the team. Working in a start-up has taught him the value of collaboration and trust: “Having colleagues who are open-minded, confident, and aligned on purpose makes all the difference. Open communication—with each other, with customers, with partners—is essential.”

Of course, not all memories are tied to product launches or presentations. Tom often tries to step out of his comfort zone during team events to make his co-workers smile, whether by performing at karaoke nights, or dressing up as Santa for the office Christmas party.

Asked what advice he would give to newcomers at SkeyDrone, Tom doesn’t hesitate: “Don’t deliver half work but always aim for quality. And be open to feedback and different opinions. It’s through collaboration and listening to others that you really grow.”

As we celebrate this 5-year milestone, we want to thank Tom for his dedication, his vision, and his contribution to shaping SkeyDrone into what it is today. Here’s to the next chapter in this exciting journey!
