From detection to actionable intelligence: what’s new in the SkeyDrone Hub

Detecting a drone is only the beginning. For security teams and operators, the real questions come next: Is it a threat? How quickly could it reach my site? How confident are we in the detection? And does it require action?

The latest SkeyDrone Hub release takes another step in that direction, introducing new capabilities that provide greater context around drone activity and help operators assess potential threats more effectively.

Know how quickly a drone could reach you

A drone several kilometres away may seem irrelevant, until you consider how quickly it could reach a critical location.

The new Target Drone ETA feature allows users to select a target location and assess surrounding drones within a radius of 2, 5 or 10 kilometres. For each drone, the SkeyDrone Hub calculates its estimated time of arrival based on its current speed. It also calculates the fastest possible ETA based on the drone’s maximum speed.

This adds an important dimension to situational awareness. Instead of simply knowing where a drone is, operators gain insight into how quickly it could become relevant to the location they are protecting.

The estimated time of arrival of all drones within a radius of 2 km of a selected target location is displayed.

Making threat assessment smarter and more contextual

Not every drone detection represents the same level of risk. A drone’s relevance depends heavily on its behaviour and the environment in which it is operating. What is considered normal around one location may require attention at another.

With this release, we are introducing the first set of Advanced Threat Assessment Rules in the SkeyDrone Hub. These rules can be tailored to the specific operational context of each customer and location, helping operators distinguish relevant activity from detections that require less attention. It is another step towards moving beyond detection alone and enabling more contextual, actionable threat assessment.

Expanding the detection picture with a new radar feed

Reliable situational awareness also depends on bringing together information from different detection technologies.

The SkeyDrone Hub now also connects with an additional radar, for both live traffic and historical detections, available as a detection source in Drone Radar and Drone Analytics. Radar detections include a confidence score indicating the likelihood that the detected object is a drone.

Our team is continuing to refine the filtering of radar detections to reduce noise and make the data source more efficient. In a future release, we will also add images from a camera focused on the radar detection.

A new radar detection source is available, along with a confidence score indicating the likelihood that the detected object is a drone.

A simpler way to define intrusion zones

Some improvements are less complex, but make everyday use of the platform easier. Users can now create a circular intrusion zone directly in the SkeyDrone Hub. Instead of defining a polygon point by point, they can simply draw a circle around the area they want to monitor. This makes it faster and easier to define the operational context in which drone activity should be assessed.

Turning detection into understanding

Together, these developments reinforce the direction in which the SkeyDrone Hub continues to evolve. More detection sources provide a richer view of the airspace. Target Drone ETA adds context about how quickly an aircraft could reach a location. Advanced Threat Assessment Rules help determine which activity deserves attention. And easier intrusion-zone configuration helps users define what matters for their specific environment.

The goal is not simply to generate more detections. It is to help operators understand what those detections mean and turn them into actionable intelligence. Because when it comes to protecting critical infrastructure from unwanted drone activity, seeing the drone is only the first step.
